Tree — Knowing Where You Are Going, Growing

As a person of fire, I’d better cultivate my earth and grow my wood so that my fire can burn better and last longer.

But it seems like I tend to forget this part, and I start running without setting my goal, holding only my fire, which is ideas and excitement. And then I get lost, or burn out without achieving anything.

Well, people say your experience is valuable. But even small achievements are something you can build your self-trust on. Don’t start with a big goal, but a small one, and make sure you do it.

I guess this is what I have been missing in life. I was too afraid of challenging myself with my own goals, and I couldn’t tell myself what I had actually achieved. Then I lost trust in myself.

The other day, when I attended a workshop, the first thing the teacher mentioned was setting an intention. The workshop was about finishing your music. Though it seemed unrelated to any musical techniques or knowledge, he reminded us that very basic, non-music-related strategies need to be in place.

In the Q&A section, he even mentioned that you have to begin by being a decent person. Artists can be driven by ideas and excitement, and tend to forget to explain to others why they are doing what they are doing, and then get misunderstood or not understood.

When I was taking business courses, they always asked me, “Why do I do what I do?” and “How do I want my customers to be or feel after receiving my service?”

One of the influencers I have followed for a long time says, take a moment to set your intention carefully, reflect on it from time to time, and remind yourself that who you are is a result of what you have thought, and that everything in your world is your creation.

Take responsibility for that, and remind yourself that you can always change it and create your own world.

As long as your core is there and your direction is clear, no matter what happens, you can come back and restart your way forward.

I understand your rush, but take your time, sit down, and think about what you want in your world…

That’s what I remind myself sometimes.

Maybe Tree is also about vision and planning. To give the spark of Fire a direction — where to grow. To have a clear vision of what you want to create, and clarity about WHY you want it. And to develop the idea and excitement into steps.

I have a really big vision for my life. Something so big that I don’t know where to start.

That idea excites me.

But when I break it down into small steps, I begin to know what I can do today. And I can see the connection between what I do today and the big vision I have for the next five years.

That connection gives me direction. And motivation.

And every small thing I actually do becomes something I can build my trust in myself on.

Maybe this is what Tree means to me.

Not knowing exactly how everything will turn out.

But knowing where I want to go.

Having a direction, and taking one step at a time.

The vision can change.

The plan can change.

I can change.

But I can always come back to my direction and choose the next step.

That’s what guides me as I build this website, this community, and this life.

So, where are you going?

And what is one small thing you could do today to move in that direction?
