Excitement in Fire
I love learning theories and philosophies. They have helped me understand myself in ways I couldn't before.
According to Ayurveda, I have a lot of Fire and Air, but not much Earth or Water. Then one day, in a yoga class, someone told me I actually had a lot of Water. That surprised me.
As I reflected on it, it started to make sense. My daily life is deeply influenced by my emotions, which are often associated with the qualities of Water. Apparently, I am a very sensitive and emotional person. Without learning how to work with that sensitivity, it became difficult to move through everyday life.
Rather than trying to define Fire philosophically, I started noticing how it appears in my own life.
For me, Fire is ideas and excitement.
I come up with a lot of ideas—sometimes too many. Some are small and silly, while others are ambitious dreams.
Without realizing it, I found that my life was often fueled by the excitement these ideas brought me.
It doesn't really matter whether every idea becomes reality or whether I succeed. I simply enjoy exploring them. Sometimes the excitement itself is enough to brighten my day.
And isn't that enough for an ordinary day?
I've noticed that when I make space for these small moments of excitement, life often responds with new opportunities, ideas, or unexpected encounters.
So whenever I notice myself feeling uninspired or emotionally low, I return to a few simple practices.
First, I clean and tidy my room. I put everything back in its place, vacuum, and, if I have time, wipe the floor.
Then I move my body. I exercise until I sweat a little. If I can, I go to the sauna. I sing. I dance.
For longer-term support, I return to a daily yoga and meditation practice, and I pay attention to what I'm eating.
These small acts create space.
And once there is space...
I begin to imagine.
If there were nothing to prove, how would I want to live one year from now?
Where would I live?
What would my home feel like?
What would I wear?
Who would I share my life with?
What would an ordinary day look like?
What kind of work would I be doing?
Most importantly...
How would I feel living that life?
